Set within the picturesque countryside of Hertfordshire, Oaklands College in St Albans is a vibrant and welcoming further education provider, known for its commitment to hands-on, career-focused learning.
With strong roots in land-based studies, the college is home to a working farm and offers courses in agriculture, animal management, horticulture and much more. Throughout the year, Oaklands hosts a range of public events designed to bring the community together, and none are quite as eagerly anticipated as the annual Lambing Weekend.
This family-friendly celebration of spring offers visitors the chance to meet newborn lambs, explore the college’s farm, and enjoy a whole host of rural activities and this year’s event was made even more memorable thanks to the support of local businesses.
Sherriff Joins the Celebration
Sherriff were honoured to be invited to take part in Lambing Weekend 2025, not only as one of Oaklands College’s trusted contractors but also through a special personal link, team member Andrew, a proud alumnus of the college.
When Oaklands asked whether we could support the event by providing a machinery display for visitors to enjoy on their way into the farm, the answer was a resounding yes.
With a genuine passion for promoting rural industries and inspiring future generations, the Sherriff team were more than happy to get involved in this uplifting community event.
Machinery Showcase
In the lead-up to the weekend, the team carefully selected a range of equipment to reflect both the heritage and the progression of the Sherriff brand. Along the path to the farm, visitors were greeted with an eye-catching display of machinery from the agricultural side of the business, giving a nod to our long-standing involvement in land-based industries.
Alongside these, Sherriff also showcased equipment from our sports and amenity division, a clear demonstration of how the business has diversified over the years into new sectors such as turf care and environmental services.
A Weekend to Remember
The 2025 Lambing Weekend was a true celebration of community, learning and the changing face of rural enterprise. We were incredibly proud to be part of such a positive event, helping to shine a light on the college’s outstanding work while also sharing their own journey of growth and diversification.
As ever, Oaklands College provided a warm and welcoming space for people of all ages to come together, connect with the countryside, and enjoy a little springtime magic.
We look forward to continuing their support for the college and to encouraging more young people to explore the many rewarding careers that stem from rural and environmental industries.
